Reducing hire costs through
immediate expert assessment

It is essential to ensure that a damaged motorcycle is collected and assessed as soon as possible to verify that the use of a hire bike can be justified. This enables us to provide a quick and accurate estimate on repairs in order that the insurer’s inspecting engineer can assess whether the damaged motorcycle should be repaired or is beyond economic repair.

COLLECTION AND STORAGE


BLD can collect damaged bikes from anywhere in the UK (including Northern Ireland) within a timescale to meet the claimant’s requirements. It will then be placed at one of BLD's secure storage facilities located at Ringwood, Hurn, Brighouse and Lisburn (Belfast).


REPAIR ESTIMATES


Within 48 hours of collecting the damaged bike, BLD will issue a repair estimate. Estimates are generated using specially templated software  ensuring we provide detailed, clear quotes in a standard format. Wherever possible we recommend repairs, and BLD’s bike storage charges will be waived if the damaged motorcycle is repaired by BLD.


INSTRUCTIONS

Instructions can be sent to BLD by phone, fax, post or email. We offer dedicated hot lines and email for priority hire/repair authorisations.

SALVAGE DISPOSAL

Insurers write off a large proportion of damaged bikes, most commonly as “constructive total losses”. BLD recognise the difficulties facing non-comprehensive customers when confronted with the task of disposing of salvage. For this reason we can pay the customer an engineer’s recommended salvage value for any damaged bike, in order to assist in its disposal. Alternatively if the customer prefers we can return the bike/salvage.
