BLD ENTERS MONKEY BIKE CHARITY EVENT
BLD Group, the specialist motorcycle claims and accident management company, has entered a team of its own staff into the Bankstone Charity Fund raising event for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance service.
From the Southern Depot’s they have Daren Bottomley, Kevin Potts, Stuart Dobson and Mike McMillan and from the Northern depot they have Steve Ives, Andy Collins, Anthony Fuller and Carl Fay.
The Gorilla bike was painted by Dave Nicholls their airbrush artist and the helmet and tail modifications were designed by Daren Bottomley from Hurn.
As in previous years those involved in the fund raising will ride monkey bikes around Yorkshire but this year they will be visiting famous film locations on the way. To add a further twist, the riders will dress up for photographs at each stop in costumes related to the film.
The event starts in Brighouse on Saturday 11th July and should end in the afternoon of Sunday 12th with an overnight stop somewhere near Whitby. They will travel in convoy with a lead car providing the navigation, two support vans, one supplied by BLD, carrying spare bikes, spares and mechanics and a people carrier for supporters and spare riders. The stops and the films are;
• The Piece Hall, Halifax – Brassed Off
• Cow and Calf Rocks, Ilkley – Calendar Girls
• Aysgarth Falls, Aysgarth – Robin Hood Prince of Thieves
• The Golden Lion, Northallerton – The Way to the Stars
• The World of James Herriot Museum, Thirsk – All Creatures Great and Small
• Goathland Station, Goathland – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
• Whitby Abbey, Whitby – Dracula
• The Coffee Bean Café, Scarborough – Little Voice
• Castle Howard, Near Norton, York – Brideshead Revisited
• Leeds United Stadium, Elland Road, Leeds – The Damned United
Mike McMillan, Claims Director at BLD said,
“BLD are delighted to be involved in this charity event once again both as a rider and in providing support vehicles for it.
While the Claims Department is based in Ringwood, Hants, we also have a new and state of the art repair centre based in Brighouse, which services the North of England, where Bankstone one of our key business partners is also based.
As you will see from the attached picture riding a monkey bike is not the easiest of things to do but the Yorkshire Air Ambulance service is a very worthy cause. I hope that I will attract generous sponsorship along with all the other entrants.”
DickonTysoe, Director at Bankstone said,
“We are delighted BLD have once again agreed to lend their generous support. We have our biggest fleet of Monkeybikes ever taking part this year – 17 at the last count – and hope to raise a good sum of money to support the life-saving work of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance service.”
